It may surprise you that an impromptu trip to Hat Creek, Ca last week, inspired me to share a bit of my story with you.
As I settled in with my fishing pole next to the beautiful mountain creek, I listened to the birds singing and the water rushing around me. I soaked in the sun’s warm rays on my shoulders. Perhaps it was the peacefulness of my surroundings that inspired my contemplative mood. Perhaps it was my deep breathing and relaxation that brought me clarity or being outside without a full plate of have too’s for that moment.
I became overwhelmed with the need to share my story with you. “It’s time”, I thought, to share my “why”; to share why reaching out to others and sharing my message is important to me.
I’m passionate about prioritizing self-care. I’ve always believed in taking care of myself. I learned first hand the positive benefits from proper nutrition and lifting weights for my body as I’ve aged. I’ve also reaped the benefits from having those same healthy habits in place when stressful life storm’s rolled in.
When our storm hit, it became clear that there was more I could be doing to manage stress. There were many more areas of my life I could improve upon to take my self-care even further. So I added further tools to my survival toolkit. I learned mindset, perspective, and passions in my life are additionally important as nutrition and exercise. I also learned a great deal about new ways to manage stress thru MORE sleep and the practice of meditation.
These tools not only served me well during stressful times but also help in the shuffle of daily life too. I’ve spent the last 10 years learning, experimenting, implementing, and living by example with these tools in hand. I’m now sharing these tools as a part of my message because it’s so easy to fall apart in times of stress if we don’t.
Stress damages the human body. We live in a hard, fast paced world where stress is more abundant than ever. Many people experience stress with finances, technology, lack of sleep, kid’s schedules, long days at work, etc. It’s impossible to get rid of all the stress in our world, but we can make a choice to be better at reducing it. That’s why it’s never too late to take care of our health with tools that make a difference in our daily habits and help us create a healthy lifestyle. Healthy habits that mitigate the stress in our lives and help ourselves and our families thrive.
